Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy (LIT)
Post Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy
- After ImmuLIT, a follow up is done after 7 days
- The couple is asked to plan pregnancy 4 weeks after ImmuLIT procedure, within 18 months
- Patient is given a protocol of immunomodulatory medications to be taken when the couple starts planning pregnancy
- When the pregnancy test is positive, the patient is given a modified protocolof medicines to be taken durin pregnancy
- Post-ImmuLIT medications are very important for the success of ImmuLIT
- If a period of 2 years or more has passed after the ImmuLIT, a repeat procedure may be required.
Once the Alloimmune factor is diagnosed as an underlying cause, the couple is treated with Active Immunomodulation with Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy (LIT). Subsequently the couple plans pregnancy, either naturally or by Assisted Reproductive Techniques ( IUI/IVF ).
Once the patient conceives, the patient is required to take additional immunomodulatory medications (Post LIT treatment). This treatment helps to maintain the immunomodulatory effect of LIT. It is absolutely essential to follow the post LIT treatment for a successful pregnancy.
Post LIT treatment is individualised for each patient depending on the investigations. The duration of this treatment varies from patient to patient. These medications have to be taken under medical supervision.
