The Lymphocyte Immunisation Therapy (ImmuLIT) is an active immunomodulatory procedure that is useful in the treatment of repeated miscarriages, recurrent IVF failures and unexplained infertility. It is especially beneficial in cases of unexplained reproductive failures where the underlying cause is an allo-immune problem.
it involves the immunization of the prospective mother with allogenic mononuclear cells, mainly lymphocytes. LIT is performed with paternal or donor lymphocytes.
When does the LIT therapy come into play?
LIT has been used in practice since 1981 when it was introduced for the first time. Different medical professionals have developed their own methods and protocols to achieve different success rates.
Dr. Beer suggested that immunizations with paternal mononuclear antibodies could improve maternal recognition of paternal alloantigens and allow patients with spontaneous, recurrent abortions (or other forms) to continue a pregnancy to term.
